Choose the worksheet that matches the decision

Use the break-even worksheet when the main uncertainty is price, unit contribution, fixed cost or sales volume. Use the cash-flow forecast when the business may be profitable on paper but needs to understand when customer receipts and operating payments reach the bank.

Build more than one scenario

Start with the most likely case, download it, then change one important assumption. A pricing plan might test lower volume or higher variable cost. A cash plan might delay a large receipt or bring a tax payment forward. Keeping the scenarios separate makes the effect of that change visible.

A practical planning sequence

First, gather source figures rather than estimating everything from memory: current prices, recent variable costs, committed overheads, invoice due dates and known payment dates. Second, build a base case that reflects the current plan. Third, create a downside case by changing the assumption most likely to cause pressure. Finally, record the action the result supports, such as revising a sales target, holding a larger cash buffer or delaying a discretionary purchase.

Date and label every downloaded scenario. A figure without its assumptions can become misleading as costs, payment timing and business conditions change. Revisit the worksheet when a material input changes instead of treating the first result as a permanent forecast.

What the download contains

Each template produces a CSV containing the figures and calculated outputs shown on screen. CSV files can be opened in common spreadsheet software. Review formulas and formatting after import, especially if the spreadsheet uses regional decimal or date settings.

Privacy and limitations

Inputs are processed in the browser and are not included in analytics. The worksheets are planning aids, not accounting records, tax returns, lending decisions or personalised financial advice. Confirm material assumptions with current records and appropriate professional guidance.
